Shafiul Islam has been recalled to the Bangladesh squad for the ICC Champions Trophy but Nurul Hasan, Subashis Roy and Shuvagata Hom were overlooked for the tournament in England.

The Tigers have favoured seam over spin, with Shafiul back in the one-day international squad for the first time since facing England last October.

Nurul was not included in a list of 15 for Bangladesh's first participation in the Champions Trophy since back in 2006, but the wicketkeeper has been named in a party of 18 for a tri-series in Ireland next month.

Seamer Roy will also travel to Ireland to face the hosts and New Zealand, but was omitted from the Champions Trophy squad. Batsman Hom missed out on a place in both squads.

Former Tigers captain Habibul Bashar, a Champion Ambassador for the tournament, said: "It is important to plan separately for this tournament, which is why we are going to Ireland for a tri-nation series before the Champions Trophy.

"That will help us greatly in preparing for English conditions. You will see a different Bangladesh in this year's Champions Trophy."

Bangladesh face hosts England at The Oval in their first game of the Champions Trophy on June 1.

Bangladesh squad for ICC Champions Trophy: Mashrafe Mortaza (captain), Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Imrul Kayes, Shakib Al Hasan, Sabbir Rahman, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Sunzamul Islam, Mehedi Hasan, Shafiul Islam.
