Gold Coast Titans punished second-half handling errors from Sydney Roosters to end their five-game winless streak with a 26-6 victory at the Robina Stadium on Monday.

After a tight opening 40 minutes the Titans turned on the style, running in three second-half tries as the Roosters slipped to an eighth defeat of a disappointing NRL campaign.

The boot of Tyrone Roberts helped give the Titans an 8-6 lead at the break, however it was the visitors who scored the try of the half with a stunning solo effort from Latrell Mitchell.

Having collected the ball deep in his own half, the full-back scythed his way through the Titans defence with a superb turn of pace before touching down in the corner to briefly give the Roosters the lead.

However, Agnatius Paasi's converted try ensured it was the hosts who went in ahead and they turned the screw after the restart.

David Mead, Chris McQueen and William Zillman all went over as indiscipline crept into the Roosters' game – McQueen was particularly grateful as a loose ball dropped to him and the second-rower ended a 12-month try-scoring drought by pouncing to spot the gap for the Titans' third score.

Any attempts by the Roosters to finish with a flourish proved futile as once again they struggled to keep the ball in hand, allowing the Titans to cruise to victory and stay in touch with the top eight.
