The Sea Eagles ripped up the contract of Jamil Hopoate last year after he was sentenced to 12 months jail for violent assault but they are now reportedly showing interest in re-signing the promising young forward.
Hopoate Jnr was released from Long Bay jail last week and after the controversial decision to name father John as the club’s SG Ball coach, Manly look set to make yet another controversial call.
“He got out last Friday and he’s just happy to be out,” Hopoate Snr told Fox Sports.
“Manly want to re-sign him but we just have to wait and see with the NRL.”
It would further polarise the Manly fans who are still furious about the treatment of club legend Geoff Toovey and the appointment of Hopoate Snr to the coaching ranks.
